There are a few things you can look out for, which may be able to indicate you have a blockage issue in your drains system. Some of the most common signs of a blocked drain include; inconsistencies in your water levels in your toilet, water draining away a lot slower than usual in your sink or when you flush your toilet, and of course, foul smelling odours being produced.

In general, the homeowner is responsible for unblocking any drains within your property boundary such as, beneath your house, garden, and driveway. These are classed as private drains. Any drains which do not share pipes with your neighbours are your responsibility to unblock.

For septic tank clearances, not necessarily, but it is easier for us if the homeowner is present. If it is drain blockages then yes you will need to be at home, as we will check the toilet flush and taps to make sure the water is running away properly.

CCTV Drain Survey

Simply put, a CCTV drain survey is a detailed look into your drainage system, using specialist drain survey equipment. The drain camera is fed into your drainage system, which then feeds back CCTV footage back to a monitor at surface level, so a drainage engineer can fully assess the state of your drains. This recording is the documented and saved, so that any findings are confirmed and recommendations can be made accordingly.

There are various scenarios where a CCTV survey would be extremely beneficial to diagnose and rectify your drainage issues. If you are experiencing re-occurring blockages or you suspect you may have a bigger problem such as a collapsed or broken pipework - a drain survey could be absolutely vital in understanding the issue at hand. Similarly, a CCTV survey is also recommended as a part of pre-purchase investigations when buying a new property. This will give you the power of an informed decision before signing.

Our CCTV Drain Surveys include an analysis of your drains, a detailed report by our drainage engineer, recommendations on the next steps to take, and a DVD recording of the survey footage.
